Punjab Police Finalise Comprehensive Security Plan for New Year’s Night

The Punjab Police have finalised an extensive security strategy to maintain law and order across the province on New Year’s night, with special focus on major cities including Lahore.

Inspector General of Police (IGP) Punjab Dr Usman Anwar has ordered heightened security measures and directed all police formations to remain on high alert to ensure public safety during the celebrations.

Over 25,000 Police Personnel to Be Deployed

According to official details, more than 25,000 police officers and personnel will be deployed across Punjab on New Year’s night. In Lahore alone, over 5,000 officers will be assigned to security duties.

CCTV Monitoring and Intelligence Surveillance

IGP Dr Usman Anwar confirmed that all activities across Lahore and other districts will be monitored through CCTV cameras. Law enforcement agencies have been instructed to keep a special watch on anti-state elements, suspicious individuals, and law violators.

The surveillance system will help police respond swiftly to any untoward situation and prevent incidents before they escalate.

Zero Tolerance for Illegal Activities

Punjab Police have announced a strict ban on one-wheeling, aerial firing, and hooliganism during New Year celebrations.

Enhanced Patrols and Traffic Management

Security patrols by the Dolphin Squad, PERU, Elite Force, and Punjab Highway Patrol will be intensified across the province. Additionally, search and sweep operations will continue in Lahore and other cities.

Police have also been instructed to implement effective and coordinated traffic management plans to ensure smooth movement and prevent congestion on major roads.

Preventive Measures and Senior-Level Supervision

As part of preventive policing, surety bonds will be obtained from individuals previously booked for one-wheeling and aerial firing in past years.

Meanwhile, the CCPO Lahore, along with Regional Police Officers (RPOs) and District Police Officers (DPOs), has been directed to personally supervise security arrangements in their respective areas.

Police Appeal to Citizens

Punjab Police have urged citizens to cooperate with law enforcement agencies and immediately report any suspicious activity, one-wheeling, or aerial firing by calling helpline 15.

Officials emphasized that public cooperation is crucial to ensuring a safe and peaceful New Year’s night across the province.
