Sindh Govt Approves 600-Bed Modern Hospital Project in Larkana

The Sindh government has approved the design, scope, and financial framework for a 600-bed state-of-the-art hospital in Larkana, marking one of the most significant healthcare investments for upper Sindh in recent years.

Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah gave the approval while chairing a high-level meeting at the CM House, directing the Planning & Development and Health departments to fast-track the project. The hospital is expected to be completed within two years, with construction set to begin in March 2026.

Two-Phase Construction Plan

Officials informed the meeting that the hospital will be built in two phases as a six-storey facility with a basement, designed to function as a full-fledged tertiary-care hospital.

Once completed, the hospital will offer a total of 432 nursing-care beds, 92 emergency beds, and 72 ICU beds, bringing overall capacity close to 600 beds.

Advanced Medical Facilities Planned

According to the approved plan, the hospital will be equipped with modern healthcare infrastructure, including:

The facility will also include administrative offices and improved amenities for attendants.

Support Services and Infrastructure

The basement level will house key support systems such as a central sterile supply department, laundry, mortuary, medical gas plant, waste-management facilities, kitchens, staff dining areas, storage spaces, and loading docks.

On the ground floor, emergency triage, radiology, OPDs, pharmacy, dialysis units, and ER observation wards for male and female patients will be established to ensure efficient patient flow.

Project Cost and Vision

The estimated cost of civil works for the project is approximately Rs3.1 billion, covering construction, external development, and additional infrastructure requirements.

Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah said the hospital is being developed on the special instructions of PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari, adding that the project reflects the government’s commitment to improving access to quality healthcare in upper Sindh.

Once operational, the facility is expected to significantly reduce the patient burden on major hospitals in Karachi and improve healthcare outcomes in the region.
