Court Rejects Ducky Bhai’s Plea for YouTube Channel, Mobile Phones; Orders Return of Personal Items

A judicial magistrate has rejected a request by YouTuber Saadur Rehman, popularly known as Ducky Bhai, seeking the interim return of his YouTube channel and mobile phones, while allowing the release of selected personal belongings seized during an investigation.

The decision was announced on Tuesday by Judicial Magistrate Naeem Wattoo, who ruled on an application filed by the content creator.

What the Court Decided

While dismissing the plea related to digital assets, the court ordered the return of 19 personal items recovered during a search. These include:

However, the magistrate declined to grant interim custody of:

  • The YouTube channel

  • Seized mobile phones

Background of the Case

Ducky Bhai was arrested earlier this year by the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) in connection with allegations of promoting gambling applications on social media platforms.

Following his arrest in August, authorities seized several electronic devices and personal items as part of the investigation.

Bail Granted Earlier by Lahore High Court

The content creator was released on bail on November 24 by the Lahore High Court, but his seized digital assets remained in official custody.

After securing bail, Ducky Bhai approached the magistrate’s court seeking the return of his confiscated belongings, including access to his YouTube channel—one of his primary sources of income.

Why the Channel and Phones Were Not Returned

Legal experts say courts often exercise caution when it comes to digital devices and online accounts, especially in cases involving alleged misuse of platforms. Such items are frequently considered key evidence, and their release may be delayed until investigations or trials reach a more advanced stage.

The magistrate’s ruling reflects this approach, balancing the return of personal items with the need to preserve material evidence.

What Happens Next?

The investigation by the NCCIA remains ongoing. Any future request for the return of digital assets, including the YouTube channel, is likely to depend on:

  • Progress of the investigation

  • Submission of forensic reports

  • Directions from higher courts

For now, Ducky Bhai retains possession of his personal belongings but remains without access to his seized phones and YouTube channel.

Why This Case Matters

The case has sparked debate around:

  • Digital rights of content creators

  • The legal status of social media accounts as property

  • Accountability of influencers promoting third-party apps

As Pakistan’s digital economy grows, such cases are expected to shape how courts handle online platforms and influencer responsibility.
